Solution route

CCTV and security wiring

Organise the requirement around the installation context.

What this route is for

Camera, access-control and alarm installations mix several cable types: data cable to IP cameras, low-voltage power runs, and signalling or twisted wire for detectors and panels. The final list often depends on the equipment chosen later. This route lets the enquiry start from the installation itself.

The three questions that shape the enquiry

  • How is each device powered and connected? Network-powered cameras usually run on twisted-pair data cable; separately powered devices need a power run as well. The site lists twisted-pair families for the data side and flexible sheathed cable for equipment connections.
  • Where does the cable run? Indoor, outdoor, in trunking, in conduit or direct-buried runs each change what jacket and construction are appropriate. Describe the route rather than naming a jacket type if you are unsure.
  • How far? Run lengths decide both the cable choice and the packaging; a rough count of runs and the longest run is enough to start.

What to send

The number and type of devices, the recorder or panel location, the typical and longest run lengths, whether runs are indoor or outdoor, and the destination country. A site sketch or an equipment list is welcome as an attachment.
