Solution route

OEM and ODM projects

Scope a cable, packaging or labelling requirement with the information available.

What this route is for

Some requirements are not a catalogue item: a cable built to a drawing, a standard construction in a custom length or colour, private-label packaging, or printed jackets. These are scoped as projects. The enquiry defines the brief; feasibility, tooling and commercial terms are answered in the quotation after review.

What counts as a project brief

  • Construction. A drawing, a sample, or a reference to a listed record plus the changes you need.
  • Marking and colour. Jacket colour, print text and print interval, if any.
  • Packaging. Reel or coil size, inner and outer packing, labelling, and any barcode or language requirement.
  • Quantities and timing. Trial quantity, expected repeat quantity, and the date the first delivery is needed.

How the review works

The sourcing team checks the brief against what the supplier can produce, asks for the missing points, and returns a quotation that states exactly what is confirmed. Nothing in the brief is treated as agreed until it appears in that quotation. Documents and samples follow the same rule: see Quality and documents for how document scope is handled.

What to send

The drawing, sample reference or listed record you are starting from, the changes you need, the marking and packaging requirements, the trial and repeat quantities, the destination and the date the first delivery is needed. Attach the drawing or a photo of the sample if you have one; a short note on what the cable is used for helps the review even when the construction is fully specified.
